I changed my desktop picture the other day, which I barely ever do. One day this won't be just a nice 'hi' and 'nite' from my screen. Eventually, I'll find myself in the crowd at one of the live shows, letting each and every chord pierce through and ensure me that there is nothing even remotely similar to the feeling when you actually see the person whose work and talent gets you through a day. Nothing like when you realise that they really exist and it's not just some outcome of your own imagination but an actual breathing human being with an incredible super power to bring beauty and spirit to your life with each and every song; and the depth of their voice just cuts you open and awakens feelings that start eating you alive in the most pure an wonderful way - the most extatic happiness and joy mixed up with the growing misery that this moment won't last forever and that when the show is done you'll have to go back to your simple everyday life where moments like that one stay only in your imagination. I am sure that in a crowd of people screaming out the lyrics and words of affection, I will be that single soul falling apart struck by this increadible experience and crying tears of the most honest joy humainly possible.
Some time ago I've realised how much impact can someone, who you've never met in your life, never even seen personally, have on you. It is absolutely increadible how someone's talent, work, effort, heart and soul put into one composition is able to touch your soul and reach your heart, cling to your perception and change the way you react to a certain atmosphere, to particular sounds and inevitably, how you look at the world around you. A song can help you get through a day, can save one's life in some cases. And it's an amazing phenomenon how a human being is able to create something so powerful, something of such support in one person's life that it becomes a hand in need strong enough to pull them up and get back on their feet.
But, however, creating one such song is a skill only few are lucky enough to be blessed with, delivering song after song like that is probably one of the most unique talents. Obviously, each of us will react differently to every artist. Some will find this feeling and this place in Iron Maiden, others in Skrillex and others in Beethoven. Each of those people will obviously state that this stan and this beauty can be found only in the music of their beloved artist, that's just human nature, we tend to consider ourselves infallible and we hate being claimed to be wrong and being proven so even more. But there's no rights or wrongs in this subject, it's fully and completely personal matter, a preference which even if questioned cannot be discussed as it's fully depandable on personality and personal perception; this cannot be judged, it's something no one can take away from us.
For me there's not just one artist whose music has such an impact on my life. There are plenty musicians, who can get me down on my knees already with the first couple of choards. I tend to look for those less known people, those, who will be appreciated by the world eventually but are not the superstars quite yet. Whenever I find some new artist I don't listen to the song from the beat point of view, I don't check if its catchy, if it can sell; at the same time I don't only focus on the lyrics either, even though the poetry behind them and the deeper meaning is a vital and unseperble part of an amazing track for me. What I want to find is the experience behind a song, feelings that it builds and atmosphere that it delievers and most importantly state it leaves me with. And I find it in his music every time.
